Experiment 15
AIM:
To create a model of the solar system that accurately depicts the relative sizes and distances of the planets from the Sun.
.
APPARATUS AND MATERIAL REQUIRED:
- Cardboard
- Scissors
- Glue
- Straws
- Markers
- Paper clips
OBJECTIVES:
- To learn about the relative sizes and distances of the planets from the Sun.
- To develop spatial reasoning skills.
- To have fun creating a model of the solar system.
PROCEDURE:
- Cut out circles of cardboard to represent the planets. The sizes of the circles should be proportional to the actual sizes of the planets.
- Cut out straws to represent the distances between the planets and the Sun. The lengths of the straws should be proportional to the actual distances between the planets and the Sun.
- Glue the circles of cardboard to the straws.
- Use markers to label the planets and the Sun.
- Use paper clips to attach the model to a piece of cardboard or poster board.
